Molly Goddard is a young, British Designer and is definitely one to watch. She showed her first collection in London September 2015. She did her MA at Central Saint Martins and since then she has worked to build an amazing label for herself. Her dresses are almost child-like with lots of voluminous skirts and tulle. The most recent show of hers at Fashion Week exhibited her love for smocking, pink and gingham. Her ruching and gathering is out of this world. 

Her most recent feat was a collaboration with Topshop. For January 2017 they chose to produce 8 pairs of shoes in a capsule collection. The silver boots, that can be seen on the Topshop website, are Goddard’s personal favourite.

Why Molly Goddard is my need to know name:

For anyone who knows the art work i create you will know i am extremely tactile, and a big lover of texture. I think this is why she originally appealed to me when researching up and coming designers. The texture and handwork in her collections are sensational and really reflect the haphazard way in which children dress. I then feel even more in love with her when reading a snippet from an interview with her in which she said ‘“I want prices to be quite accessible at any age. I don’t want to sell dresses that cost 2,000 pounds. You have to do things that people can actually wear’. It seems to be rare to see designers who aren’t so concerned with selling garments at extortionate prices but instead providing a produce that is accessible and brings happiness to the wearer.
